Jason Menchhofer, MPH, REHS was appointed as Mercer County Health Commissioner by the Mercer County Board of Health on January 1, 2022. Born and raised in Celina, Jason began his public career as a sanitarian (now know as an environmental health specialist) working for the Auglaize and Van Wert County health departments in 1998. In 2002 Jason became the Environmental Health Director of the Van Wert County Health Department, and spent 13 years there before joining the Mercer County Health District as a sanitarian and accreditation coordinator in 2015. Jason became the administrator of the Mercer County Health District in 2019, and was promoted to the position of health commissioner in 2022 after earning a Master of Public Health degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Over his career, Jason has been actively involved in multiple state level organizations including the Ohio Environmental Health Association, Ohio Onsite Wastewater Association, and the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners, where he has learned a great deal from colleagues all over the state. Jason is excited to continue learning and growing in his new position as the MCHD team works to help improve overall health outcomes in Mercer County.
