Is your child in the right car seat?

Is Your Child In the Right Car Seat? – May 26, 2022

If you are WIC or Medicaid eligible and need a car seat for your child, the Mercer County Health District can help! Our Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program allows us to distribute convertible car seats (for children weighing 5-65 pounds) and removable high back booster seats (for children weighing 40-100 pounds) to families who meet eligibility requirements.

Motor vehicle crashes are the top cause of death for children and adults between 1 and 34 years of age. The correct use of car seats saves lives. Infant seats have been shown to reduce fatal injury by 71%, and toddler seats by 54%. The Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program not only provides car seats, but also trains parents to use the car seat correctly to provide maximum protection for their children.
